How the Middle East Was Redrawn
I recently watched a fascinating documentary with Rory Stewart about T.E. Lawrence (“Lawrence of Arabia”) and the role he played in the First World War. The documentary explored how Britain and France secretly divided the Ottoman Empire after the war, betraying the very Arab leaders they had promised independence to. During WWI, T.E. Lawrence worked closely with Arab leader Faisal, rallying Arab forces to overthrow the Ottoman Empire in exchange for a new, independent Arab state. However, Britain and France never intended to honor this promise. Instead, in 1916, the Sykes-Picot Agreement was secretly negotiated, carving up the Middle East into British and French-controlled territories. After the war, this agreement was formalized through the League of Nations mandates (1920): • France took control of Syria and Lebanon, drawing borders that ignored local religious and ethnic divisions. • Britain controlled Iraq, Transjordan (modern Jordan), and Palestine, prioritizing strategic and economic interests, primarily oil and the Suez Canal. • No independent Arab state was created, despite earlier British assurances. This moment marked the beginning of deep mistrust between the Arab world and Western powers. The Middle East was redrawn not for the benefit of its people, but to serve British and French colonial ambitions. The region of Palestine was left under British mandate, and by 1948, with increasing Jewish migration (encouraged by the Balfour Declaration of 1917), Britain facilitated the creation of the State of Israel, further deepening tensions. If you truly want to understand the root cause of modern Middle Eastern conflicts, I highly recommend watching this documentary. See link in comments below. The legacy of Sykes-Picot, colonial exploitation, and broken promises still shapes the region today.

Light of Dawn
I wake with the light of the dawn whispering with joy in my heart and with praise on my lips. In stillness and twilight i stand before you bowing, prostating i call Allahu (swt).
My eyes see your beauty in the dawn's golden hues. My ears hear the thunder as it gloriies you. The rhythm of my heart beats the sound of your name. My breaths rise and fall with the tide of your praise. My soul knew and loved you before i was born and without your mercy is lost and fortorn.
Wherever i may wonder down the pathways of life, my cry to you Allah (swt), is "guide me to ligfht" through all fear and helpness, to you do i turn for your breath of healing and peacedo i yearn. For all that i have , my Allah (swt) all that i am is from you, is for you and to you will return. Inshallah
