There is a Jewish community in Iran, one of the oldest in the world. Jews have lived in Persia (modern-day Iran) for over 2,700 years, dating back to the time of the Babylonian exile.
Today, Iran still has the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel.
Iranian Jews are recognized as a religious minority under Iran’s constitution and have a seat in the Iranian parliament.
