Light of Dawn

I wake with the light of the dawn whispering with joy in my heart and with praise on my lips. In stillness and twilight i stand before you bowing, prostating i call Allahu (swt).
My eyes see your beauty in the dawn's golden hues. My ears hear the thunder as it gloriies you. The rhythm of my heart beats the sound of your name. My breaths rise and fall with the tide of your praise. My soul knew and loved you before i was born and without your mercy is lost and fortorn.
Wherever i may wonder down the pathways of life, my cry to you Allah (swt), is "guide me to ligfht" through all fear and helpness, to you do i turn for your breath of healing and peacedo i yearn. For all that i have , my Allah (swt) all that i am is from you, is for you and to you will return. Inshallah

Hadrat Shaykh Asif Hussain Farooqui DB

Hadrat Shaykh Asif Hussain Farooqui, born on June 1, 1947, in Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan, is a prominent Sufi master of the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order. His family lineage traces back to significant Islamic figures, including Umar ibn Khattab (al-Farooq) and Shaykh Ahmad Sarhindi (al-Mujaddid Alf-Thani), who was instrumental in revitalizing the Islamic faith in the 17th century.

Educational and Professional Background: Shaykh Asif received his early education at Aitchison College in Lahore and later earned a master's degree from Punjab University. He furthered his studies in Geography and Business Management in Europe and Canada. After completing a course in Catering and Hotel Management in Manchester, England, he settled there, married, and established a business in the clothing and shoe trade.

Spiritual Journey: During a visit to Pakistan in the early 1980s, Shaykh Asif met Shaykh Ali Murtaza of Gadai Shareef, Dera Ghazi Khan, a distinguished Sufi of the Naqshbandi tradition. Recognizing his sincerity and dedication, Shaykh Ali Murtaza initiated him into the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi path and granted him authorization to teach and spread its principles.

Establishment of Sufi Centers in the UK: In 1977, Shaykh Asif founded the first Khanqah (Sufi center) in Europe, located in Manchester. His teachings, emphasizing adherence to the Sunnah (traditions of Prophet Muhammad) and regular remembrance of Allah (Dhikr), attracted a growing following. Over time, additional centers were established in cities such as Bolton, London, Bradford, and Burnley, serving as spiritual hubs for the community.

Spiritual Lineage (Silsila): Shaykh Asif's primary affiliation is with the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi order. He received formal authorization (khilafah) from Shaykh Ali Murtaza, who in turn was connected to Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (Hazrat Muinuddin Chishti). This lineage underscores a rich tradition of spiritual mentorship and continuity.

Contributions and Teachings: Beyond establishing Sufi centers, Shaykh Asif has authored several works and delivered numerous lectures aimed at guiding individuals on the spiritual path. His teachings focus on practical aspects of Islamic spirituality, including the implementation of Sunnah in daily life and the importance of Dhikr. He has also organized events such as the Mehfil-e-Ziyarat-e-Moye Mubarak, commemorating the blessed hair of Prophet Muhammad.

Shaykh Asif Hussain Farooqui's life and work exemplify a deep commitment to preserving and disseminating the spiritual heritage of Islam, bridging traditional teachings with contemporary contexts.
