This has been a difficult post to write.
84% of people from ethnic minority groups report challenges with anxiety. Today marks the end of Mental Health Awareness Week and anxiety has been the theme. Mental health, is not an isolated issue. #Racism, #Islamophobia, #sexism, discrimination and prejudice impact levels of anxiety in many ways. As a British, Pakistani, Muslim Woman, I have experienced this first hand and it’s tough. Sometimes, you’re not just battling with the issues from outside of your community, but also from within your own community. The #overwhelm can be immense. It’s so tough at times that it can be easier to give up and hide. Maybe, once upon a time, the ‘Old Sobiya’ may have considered it as an option. But now, it’s not an option. When you connect to your higher calling, vision and purpose, it pulls you in a direction that is immensely powerful. If you want to make it a reality, there is no option but to learn to manage, navigate and overcome the obstacles. It has taken a huge amount of time, investment and effort and I am still on the journey. When I catch emotions of #anxiety, this is what I have learnt to do: 1️⃣Slow down, take a step back from everything and be kind to myself 2️⃣Spend time praying and #meditating 3️⃣ Focus on what is in my control and circle of influence 4️⃣ Exercise and spend time around nature 5️⃣ See my #coach/ #therapist depending on what support I need ✅We all need help and support and it is absolutely okay to get that. ✅It’s important to speak up and raise awareness, even though it’s uncomfortable. ✅We all need safe, open and non-judgemental spaces to let our guard down and be vulnerable. ✅We are all ‘work in progress’ as long as we are alive. What do you need at this point to help you? #mentalhealthawarenessmonthMy Faiths Goal
May Allah Ta’ala grant us His Love and the Love of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) , such that it becomes easy to give up all sins and submit to His Obedience. May He protect us all from the mischief of nafs and Shaytaan. May He fill our hearts with Love, Adab, Akhlaq and Sabr for this beautiful Deen and inspire us in being a practical and good Muslims and be true role-models to our community.

Light of Dawn
I wake with the light of the dawn whispering with joy in my heart and with praise on my lips. In stillness and twilight i stand before you bowing, prostating i call Allahu (swt).
My eyes see your beauty in the dawn's golden hues. My ears hear the thunder as it gloriies you. The rhythm of my heart beats the sound of your name. My breaths rise and fall with the tide of your praise. My soul knew and loved you before i was born and without your mercy is lost and fortorn.
Wherever i may wonder down the pathways of life, my cry to you Allah (swt), is "guide me to ligfht" through all fear and helpness, to you do i turn for your breath of healing and peacedo i yearn. For all that i have , my Allah (swt) all that i am is from you, is for you and to you will return. Inshallah
