The Congregation reflects on how the person lived his life.
When people sincerely praise a deceased person as being good, it is considered a sign of Paradise and Allah’s acceptance, because the believers are regarded as Allah’s witnesses on earth.
Sahih al-Bukhari (1367) and Sahih Muslim (949)
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه):
A funeral passed by, and the people praised the deceased. The Prophet ﷺ said: "It has been affirmed for him."
This shows that the testimony of people regarding someone’s goodness after death is a sign of Allah’s mercy upon that person.
Sunan an-Nasa’i (4223)
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Any Muslim whose four neighbors testify that they knew nothing of him but good, Allah will say: I have accepted your testimony and forgiven him for that which you do not know.”
Allah SWT allows us to practise and help our community so they can testify for us.
