Whosoever has Allah in his heart, His helper in both worlds is Allah, And whoever has other than Allah in his heart, His opponent in both worlds is Allah."

Light of Dawn

I wake with the light of the dawn whispering with joy in my heart and with praise on my lips. In stillness and twilight i stand before you bowing, prostating i call Allahu (swt).
My eyes see your beauty in the dawn's golden hues. My ears hear the thunder as it gloriies you. The rhythm of my heart beats the sound of your name. My breaths rise and fall with the tide of your praise. My soul knew and loved you before i was born and without your mercy is lost and fortorn.
Wherever i may wonder down the pathways of life, my cry to you Allah (swt), is "guide me to ligfht" through all fear and helpness, to you do i turn for your breath of healing and peacedo i yearn. For all that i have , my Allah (swt) all that i am is from you, is for you and to you will return. Inshallah

Give Company To The Deceased

We seldom visit the graveyard, but when we do happen to find ourselves attending a funeral, we have very little understanding of the significance of the janazah and burial.

The time of burial is a very important time for the deceased. He/she is about to enter a whole new world. It is a time when we need to assist the deceased as much as we can and not spend the time in futile or disrespectful activities.

When the great Companion Amr Ibn al-Aas radhiyallahu anhu was on his deathbed he expressed his desire that after he is buried people should stand by his grave for a while equivalent to the time it takes to slaughter a camel, skin it, cut its meat and then distribute it.
Mulla Ali Qari rahmaullahi alayh has said on this subject that after the deceased has been buried, one should stand by the grave for as long as it takes to recite Surah Yaseen or one Juz of the Quran (approx 20 mins).
We understand from the above statement of Amr Ibn al-Aas radhiyallahu anhu that when a person is buried he still has some sort of awareness of what is happening around him.
This is why Amr Ibn al-Aas radhiyallahu anhu still desired the presence of people at his grave.
Spending some time at the graveside reciting some portions of the Qur’an gives the deceased some time to get used to the new environment of the grave and not feel sudden loneliness.
In this day and age people can be found gossiping about worldly issues, laughing and joking and talking on mobile phones right at the graveside. All this while the deceased is being buried.
And once the burial is over the gathering disperses very rapidly, when in reality the deceased desires our company for a while so that he can get used to the new environment.
It has always been my Ma’mool (regular practice) during every Janazah (whether I lead the Janazah salaah or not) to recite Surah Yaseen Shareef at least once immediately after the burial at the graveside.”
